GitHub Issues Integration

Connect GitHub Issues to Enterpret to analyze product feedback, bug reports, and feature requests from your repositories alongside your other feedback sources.

Overview

The GitHub Issues integration brings issues and their comments into Enterpret as conversation threads. Each GitHub issue becomes one conversation: the issue title and body form the opening message, and comments appear as replies in the same thread.

Enterpret analyzes the complete thread together, so summaries and insights reflect the full discussion rather than treating every comment as a separate feedback record.

How this helps day to day

  • Bring product feedback and bug reports from GitHub into the same workspace as your other feedback sources.

  • Find recurring requests and pain points across repositories.

  • Review a single summary of an issue and its discussion.

  • Compare GitHub feedback with support conversations, surveys, calls, and other sources in Enterpret.

Before you begin

You need the repository owner and repository name. For a private repository, you also need permission to install or approve the Enterpret GitHub App for that repository.

Create one integration for each repository you want to connect.

Connect a public repository

  1. In Enterpret, go to Integrations.

  2. Select New integration, then choose GitHub Issues.

  3. Select the option for a public repository.

  4. Enter the repository owner and repository name. For example, for github.com/acme/widgets, use acme as the owner and widgets as the repository name.

  5. Complete the setup and confirm that the integration is active.

Public repositories do not require you to sign in to GitHub.

Connect a private repository

  1. In Enterpret, go to Integrations.

  2. Select New integration, then choose GitHub Issues.

  3. Select the option for a private repository.

  4. Follow the prompt to install or authorize the Enterpret GitHub App.

  5. Select the repository you want to connect and complete the setup.

  6. Confirm that the integration is active.

The GitHub App uses read-only access to Issues and the repository information required to identify the connected repository. Enterpret does not create, edit, close, or comment on GitHub issues.

What gets synced

  • Open and closed issues

  • Issue titles and descriptions

  • Issue comments, kept within the same conversation thread

  • Issue details needed to identify and link back to the original issue

After the initial import, Enterpret checks periodically for new and updated issues and comments.

What is not included

  • Pull requests

  • GitHub Discussions

  • Code, commits, and repository files

  • Attachments as separate feedback records

  • Repositories hosted on GitHub Enterprise Server

After connecting

New integrations import issues created from the beginning of the month three months before the connection date. For example, an integration connected on October 15 imports issues created from July 1 onward.

For public repositories connected without GitHub authentication, Enterpret uses a conservative shared limit of 50 GitHub API requests per hour. Large repositories may therefore take longer to complete their first sync. Private repositories connected through the GitHub App are not subject to this anonymous request limit.

Historical issues and backfills

If you need issues from an earlier period, contact your Enterpret representative to request a managed backfill.

Provide the repository and the required date range. The start date is included and the end date is excluded. The date range is based on when an issue was created.

For every issue in the selected range, Enterpret imports the current complete thread, including comments added after the issue was created. A backfill is not a point-in-time snapshot and does not interrupt ongoing synchronization.

Troubleshooting

The repository cannot be connected

  • Confirm that the repository owner and name are correct.

  • For private repositories, confirm that the Enterpret GitHub App is installed for the selected repository.

  • Ask a GitHub organization administrator to approve the app if your organization restricts app installation.

Recent issues or comments are missing

Allow time for the next scheduled sync. Public repositories can take longer when the shared unauthenticated request limit is reached.

Pull requests are missing

This is expected. The integration imports GitHub Issues and excludes pull requests.

Getting help

If an issue remains unresolved, contact your Enterpret representative with the repository URL, the integration name, and links to examples that are missing or not updating.
